1988 Mercedes Benz 300SL 3.0 2-Door Automatic Convertible

The Mercedes SL R107 needs no introduction. Released in 1971 and in production until 1989, it’s outlived in the Mercedes model line-up only by the G-Class. 
In many ways it’s the archetypal Mercedes – elegant, smooth and built to last. It still looked fresh in 1989. 
This example was registered on December 31st 1988, making it one of the last examples of the R107. It has the M106 3.0 straight-six petrol engine, mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. With 187hp and 188lb ft of torque it is still plenty quick enough in the modern world, but always refined and unruffled. 
It has covered just 43,000 miles.
There is MB-Tex ‘leather’ seats front and rear, with the minimum of wear, electric windows and the original Mercedes radio cassette in the car. The roof is in excellent condition, and folds neatly into the space behind the back seats. The hardtop is also included with the car. 
Everything works as it should on the car and it will be supplied with a new MOT on sale (the current MOT runs to August 2025). 
There are four Michelin tyres fitted to the car. 
The history is very good, with stamps in the service book for the early part of its life and invoices for more recent spend. The SL will be sold with an oil, filters and plugs change for the new owner. 
A proper classic and a proper Merc, this is a classy, cool, yet surprisingly practical classic for the summer months.
